Julie Lythcott-Haims kicked off the PA Speaker Series in the beautiful Gordon Parks Hall. Her bestselling book, “How to Raise an Adult” warns against “helicopter parenting,” or, as she puts it in her book trailer, “holding… hands too much, too hard, too often.” Lythcott-Haims uses her 10 years as the former Dean of Freshman at Stanford University, and her personal experience as a parent to detail the risks of children’s overdependence on their parents. She shared her wisdom on how to navigate the overparenting landscape to raise resourceful, resilient, and confident adults. We are grateful to PA Speaker Series organizers, Christie Henry and Jennifer Rhinds, and for PA Co-Presidents, Sari Weichbrodt and Safi Runesha for facilitating this event. Thank you to everyone who attended!
