Help shape the future of the Parents’ Association. The PA Board is holding a forecasting session on Monday, March 7, 6:30–8:30 p.m., at Earl Shapiro Hall. Please join us. As the school has grown in recent years and parent interests continue to evolve, the Parents’ Association Board believes it is a perfect time to review its current slate of activities to ensure that it is directing volunteer time and parent dues to their best effect in the service of community-building and academic excellence.
We will be discussing emerging priorities for the PA and proposals for next year. Topics will include, but are not limited to:
How best to address the needs of parents new to the Lab community
How to build community across divisions and also connect parents with specific interests
How to increase volunteerism and retain volunteers
How to allocate spending to meet both rising costs and new potential opportunities in curriculum innovation and community building
All parents are invited to offer their input and help guide our forecast for 2016–2017. You can RSVP and signup for childcare here.
Please note that this forum will be led by the PA Board and focused solely on the Parents’ Association activities; it is separate and distinct from the strategic planning process that the Schools will undertake and which Director Robin Appleby referenced in an earlier email.
In addition, the PA is currently soliciting nominations for next year’s Board. Next year promises to be one of extraordinary opportunity, as the campus emerges from construction for the first time in four years. Many school administration positions have recently been filled or hope to be filled, including a new High School principal, director of educational program, coordinator for diversity, equality and inclusion, and director of student services. This is an ideal time to become more involved in the Schools’ future and to be of service to the Lab community. Please use this nomination form, and if you are considering running, we encourage you to attend the March 7 meeting.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email.
