The Holiday Book Fair and Bazaar was held on December 5-6, in Judd C116 at the Historic Campus. A Coffee & Cider Social on Tuesday morning was a festive kick-off to the two-day event. Students, faculty, parents, and alumni were invited to visit the Holiday Book Fair and Bazaar which featured dozens of student-run club tables, and offered one-stop shopping of spirit wear, student art, books, and more. Neighborhood partner, 57th Street Books, hosted a pop-up bookstore on both days with books for all ages, and fulfilled the teacher book wish lists.
Additional special events at the Holiday Book Fair included an Ask-the-Librarians event where librarians from all four of Lab’s libraries participated in a panel and answered audience questions on book recommendations, students’ reading progression, and more. Another highlight of the Holiday Book Fair were author chats which featured authors Natasha Tarpley, and Jeff Ruby.
The Bazaar, held after school dismissal, featured over a dozen student club tables, and homerooms raising money and awareness for various clubs and community causes. A portion of the PA’s proceeds from the Holiday Book Fair and Bazaar was donated to Comer Hospitals Child Life wish lists.
Thank you to everyone who came and supported Lab, our neighborhood bookstore 57th St. Books; our teachers; student entrepreneurship, and community service. We greatly appreciate the efforts of organizers Heather Tamburo, Audris Wong, Tina Louie, and Andee Stacy for organizing and expertly executing this wonderful Lab tradition.
