Bookswap 2017: amazing generosity of volunteer time and book donations by the Lab community make this beloved school tradition possible

Thank you to the entire Lab community for helping make this year’s BookSwap such a tremendous success! This event would not have been possible without incredible support from the students, parents, teachers, administration, the Facilities team, and the Parents’ Association. As a result of the generosity of all the children and families who contributed:

We collected an estimated 15,000 books.

We donated over 80 boxes of books to Avalon Park Elementary School, and additional donations were made to various organizations including Mary Crane Center and Cradles to Crayons.

70+ parent volunteers put in 460+ hours to promote literacy and the principle of sharing with others to the 1,100+ children who came through the swap.

Middle school students collectively donated 2,700+ books resulting in the entire sixth grade winning a grade-wide pizza party (1600+ books donated).

Ms. Kelly Storm’s 6th grade advisory won a pizza party for donating the most books (296) from a single MS advisory.

A hearty congratulations to this year’s raffle winners: Alex Diamond, Dallan Krewatch, Sygne Stole, Abigail Kern, Peter O’Donnell, Ruby Koyner, Dominic Vaughan, Nash McKeague, Isaac Benton, and Alex Stainton-Simmons.
