Wondering how to feel more connected to Lab? Unclear about community-building events for you and your middle schooler? Following is an overview of events and activities sponsored by the PA’s Middle School Council. Back-to-School Night Thursday, September 6, 5-8:15 p.m., Gordon Parks Arts Hall The Middle School will host an evening opportunity for parents and guardians to attend their child’s classes. Snacks will be provided by the Middle School Council of the Parent’s Association between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Gordon Parks Hall Lobby. Introductory remarks from Principal Sandy Bixby will begin at 5:35 p.m. in the Gordon Parks Assembly Hall.
Dates TBD The MS Council partners with the Middle School Ambassadors and student government to sponsor fan days to build community and cheer the Maroons to victory! Snacks and school spirit swag included.
Giant Gym Nights
Friday, November 2, 7–9 p.m.
Friday, April 5, 7–9 p.m. Giant Gym Night is a middle school event when Lab gyms, the gymnastics room, and pool are opened up for a night of fun supervised by the physical education staff! The MS Council will communicate details and sign-up information in the fall. We will also be looking for volunteers so mark your calendars. Please note there is no food served at this event.
Principal Sandy Bixby hosts forums throughout the year for parents to engage with her on relevant issues or in open discussion. Past topics include social media, the humanities curriculum, and the MS schedule. To suggest a topic for an upcoming chat, please email one of the members of the MS Council.
MS Counselor Coffee Standing Time TBD School counselor Sylvia Aschliman hosts a monthly coffee for middle school parents and guardians. The purpose of the gathering is to increase connection between home and school regarding social and emotional care of our middle schoolers and their families.
Parent-to-Parent First Thursday of the month 8–9 a.m., Judd C103 To support our parent community, the Middle School Council organizes an ongoing opportunity to meet other middle school parents along with a MS counselor to share, problem solve, and support one another.

Select your middle schooler’s name and look for “School Bulletin” on the menu on the left side of your screen. Learn about clubs, events, opportunities and more!
