The Parent Association will be collecting Box Tops from January 30th to February 24th. A collection box has been placed in Blaine Lobby. Please use a sandwich bag or one of these collection sheets, http://www.boxtops4education.com/about/collection-sheets Don’t forget to include your teacher’s name. We have set a goal for Lower School students to collect 3,000 Box Tops for the winter campaign. We’ll be tracking our progress with a giant thermometer in the lobby. Remember, all proceeds go to next year’s community service grants! Last year, Lower School students collected nearly $500 through Box Tops. This year, the community service grant was awarded to teachers Linda Weide (fourth grade) and Stephanie Mitzenmacher (fifth grade), in collaboration with Lisa Sukenic (fourth grade) and Zack Ruelas (third grade), to broaden awareness of the Syrian refugee crisis. Half the grant provided seed money for fundraising efforts of the homerooms. In a collective effort with several High School clubs, the students raised $1,820 at the Holiday Bazaar for RefugeeOne to support Syrian families resettling in Hyde Park. The other half of the grant will go to a public art installation project to raise awareness for the plight of refugees. What good will your Box Tops do next year?
